Makeup Revolution Ultra Cream Contour Palette Review

For today's blog post, I thought I would do a review of the Makeup Revolution Ultra Cream Contour Palette. I had been waiting for it to come back in stock in Superdrug for well over a month and it finally came in. I was lucky I got one because they sell out pretty much as soon as they arrive. The only reason I was able to get one was because I got one of the girls to put it on hold for me.
Anyway, on to the review. The first thing I noticed about the palette is the really sleek, simple packaging. It's a black palette with gold lettering. This is one of my favouirte things about the Makeup Revolution palettes, other than how inexpensive they are. It sort of gives the palette a professional feel. The palette came with 8 shades and a nice sized mirror which is so handy while you are doing your makeup. The shades in the palette range in colour, from lighter colours (to highlight) to darker ones (to contour with). I was pretty happy with the shade range in the palette for my skin tone (which is quite pale) but I could see it being a problem for people with darker skin. The darker shades aren't really that dark and I feel they might not show up very well on dark skin.

Below are the swatches of the shades. I feel I have more than enough shades to choose from when contouring with this palette. I prefer to use the darkest shade for my contour and then I use either the yellow toned colour or one of the peach ones to highlight with. The white glittery shade seems sort of extreme to me. The only thing I could think to use it for is to highlight my inner corner, otherwise I think it would look really severe.
One thing I don't really like about this palette is that the product is quite light. It doesn't have much coverage so you couldn't use them to conceal as well as highlight; You need a concealer too. I really love the conouring colours in this palette and use them all the time, but I find myself highlighting with concealer a lot of the time instead of using the highlighting colours in the palette.

The palette cost €11.95 which is pretty cheap for a contour palette but since most of the time I only use one of the contour colours and highlight with something else, I'm not sure if it was the best buy. I'm glad I bought it and I use it all the time but I really wish the highlight colours had more coverage. I'll still use them, but I heard a lot of hype about this palette before I got it and it was a bit of a let down, just a bit though. I still will use the highlight colours but maybe not everyday. This is so handy though when I am doing other people's makeup, I find it so easy to contour with, maybe because I often do my younger sisters and her friends' makeup and they don't need much coverage, or maybe I just have really bad dark cirles that need a strong concealer.

Anyway, overall I do like this palette. It was a bit of a let down after all the hype but I like it and use it a lot. The shade range was perfect for my skin tone but mightn't be that great if you have very dark skin. Because the palette was so inexpensive, I was pretty happy with it. It was definelty well worth €12.  Have you ever tried this palette, or anything else from Makeup Revolution? Let me know what you thought in the comments section below. Talk to you all soon.

A Bad Day | What I Ate Today

In Today's What I ate today, I had a pretty bad day in terms of sticking to my diet. I ended up giving in and getting a takeaway and I didn't have the healthiest breakfast. Anyway, here is what I had.

7:00am - Green Tea

I woke up early today and made myself a cup of green tea. I sat in bed and watched YouTube videos as a sipped my green tea while tried to wake up properly. This is my new favourite way to start the day.

10:30am- Breakfast

For breakfast, I decided to have something different so I made pancakes. I tried to be good so I only had three and thought that it would keep me full for most of the day which it actually did. I didn't need to eat again until half four. I had the pancakes with sugar and lemon, and they were really tasty.

4:30pm - Dinner

This is when my eating healthy really went down the drain. Me and my sister when on a day trip to take pictures for a new outfit of the day and when we were done, we decided to get KFC. I got a boneless banquet which is basically boneless chicken pieces, popcorn chicken, chips, gravy and a Pepsi. This ensured that I was over in my calories in the day but I had been good for the past two weeks so I don't feel too bad about it. Tomorrow is a new day and I'll be back to watching what I eat.

8:30pm - Hot Chocolate

Later that evening, I had a hot chocolate made with skimmed milk. I've been drinking so much hot chocolate lately, well only like a cup a day, not like ten cups. I'm thinking about cutting down on it a bit and maybe only have one every second day and then a green tea on every other day.
So that was everything I ate. I hope you enjoyed this post and didn't find it completely boring. Let me know in the comments below if you would like to see more of them. Also, If you liked it, make sure to save it on Bloglovin or give it a +1 on Google Plus. I hope you have a good day and I'll talk to you soon.

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Review

If you saw my Superdrug haul blog post, then you will know that in it I bought the new Maybelline Falsies mascara. Its official name is The Falsies Push Up Drama mascara and I got it on offer for €7.25 down from €10.75. I was pretty excited to try it because I liked the other Falsies mascara, and this one looked like it had a better brush (kinda like the brush from Benefit's They're Real mascara).

I really love the packaging of this mascara, much more than the original Falsies mascara. It's really sleek or something and I really love the pink and red together which the black. Also, the look of the brush is right up my street; most of my favourite mascaras have a brush like this one. I hate the really fat bristly brushes of some mascaras and find that thinner, rubber brushes work best for me.

When I tried this product, however, I found that I didn't like it. I felt like it didn't make much of a difference to my lashes and it really didn't give much volume. The most annoying thing about this product though is that it is quite wet or something. It gets all over my lid no matter what I do and even after a few minutes, it is really smudgeable. It takes really long to dry out and this makes it so easy to mess up. Most of the time when I apply this mascara, I end up taking it all off again because it either goes all over my lid, doesn't make much of a difference to my lashes or both.

I've talked to a few of the girls in work about this mascara and some of them agree with me that it is a really wet formula and smudges everywhere. Some of them, however, have no idea what I'm talking about and say it is quite a good mascara. So make of that what you will, although none of them said it was a really amazing mascara, it was more like "it gets the job done" kind of thing.

Overall, I really don't like this mascara. I wanted to but it is just so annoying to use. I'm going to continue to try and use it every now and then to see if I can use it up because I really hate waste, but it's definitely not going to be the first mascara I reach for on a special occasion or when I want to look nice. What do you think? Have you tried this mascara yet? Let me know in the comments below what you make of it or what mascara you own that was a great disappointment. Have a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

NOTD: Navy Blue Nails

Hey guys, today's blog post is just a quick nail of the day. I decided to go for navy blue nails. I really like them. I was going to do some sort of design on top in a black but I chose to leave them plain and sort of understated. I tend to prefer simple nails over highly designed ones anyway. The nail polish that I used was a Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in the colour Blackberry which I think is supposed to be like a gel nail polish. I've had problems with Barry M nail polishs before in that they stained my nails but hopefully that doesn't happen with this one. So that was my quick little post for today. I hope you all have a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

Superdrug Haul

Recently I was in Superdrug and I picked up a few things. A lot of these were on offer so I got some great deals. So here are the products that I got:
The first things I got were some Tea Tree Deep Cleansing Nose Strips. I had been thinking of getting nose strips for a while because I love the idea of them, but they are kind of expensive for how many you get in the packet so I kept putting it off. These ones were on a buy one get one free offer so I got both packs, that each have 5 pore strips in them, for just €5.15. I have already used a few of these and I really like them. I don't know why it is so interesting to me to get all the gunk out of your pores. I guess it is just cool to look at the strip afterwards with the proof of how much it worked. You don't get to really see all the gunk you got rid of with face washes or most masks.
Another item I got in this haul is the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm. I'm sure you've heard about this by now. If you haven't, basically this is supposed to be an amazing primer. It is supposed to make your makeup last all day and minimise your pores. I haven't tried it out yet but it was only €4.80, unlike some other primers that cost around €20, and you get quite a lot more product than you would if you bought another primer. I really hope the is as good as everyone says but I'll keep you posted.
Next, I got a Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama mascara. This was on offer. It was down from something like €10.75 to €7.25 so I thought I would try it. I've tried this once or twice already and I wasn't really happy with it. I'm going to test it out a bit more to make sure that I'm not missing something or doing anything wrong and then I will write a proper review for you guys.
After that, I got two pairs of Eylure eyelashes. These usually cost at least €6, but each of these was only like €1.95 so I had to pick them up. I'm excited to try these out because I rarely splurge on Eyelure eyelashes. I'm used to using the cheap Penneys ones. I couldn't believe what a bargain these ones were!
Next, I got the Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation in the colour 100 (ivory). This supposed to be a full coverage foundation, which I think is fairly rare to find at the drugstore. It also has an SPF of 20 and is supposed to last 25 hours. It sounds pretty amazing but it was only like €10 so I'm not getting my hopes too high. I'll write a full review of this one once I've tested it out a bit.
There was a 3 for 2 on Rimmel products at the time so I also got their Lasting Finish high coverage concealer. They didn't have one in ivory so I got one in the colour porcelain which is a shade lighter. I hope it isn't too light for my skin. This is another product, like the foundation, that I won't get my hopes to high for as it was on €7.05 but I'm excited to try it out.
Then I also got a Kate Moss lipstick in 107 as the last thing in my 3 for 2. I've wanted this colour for quite a while now and I've almost bought it a couple of times so I decided to get it as I was already buying lots of other things.
If you haven't noticed yet, I've dyed my hair. My ombre is gone and now my hair is a sort of winey-purple. The colour is the Schwarzkopf Live Intense Colour in 087 Mystic Violet. When I was in Superdrug, it was on offer from €7 something down to €5.95 so I thought I would pick up another one for when I need to re-dye my hair.
Then I decided to pick up an MUA lipstick and lip liner because the were only €1.35 each. I got a lipstick in the colour Totally Nude and a lip liner in the colour Carmel Nougat. Can you believe how cheap that is for a lipstick?!
And last of all, I got a Barry M lipstick and lip liner. There was an offer of something like two Barry M lip products for €9. The lipstick I went for was quite a bright fuschia colour and is called no. 52, and I got a bright pink kohl penci lip liner to match.
So that is everything I got in Superdrug. I can believe how cheap everything is in there. Have you ever shopped in Superdrug? If not, let me know in the comments where your favourite place to buy makeup is. Talk to you all soon.
